Summer Learning Journey Week 2 , Day 2 : The Roaring 20's ( The 1920's)

Image result for Charlie Chaplin

Activity 1 : Pop Culture , The Silent Movie .
The 1920's saw a massive surge in the number of people going to the movies . Huge cinemas were built in both Auckland
(The Civic Theatre) and in Dunedin (Empire De Luxe) . The most popular movies were the silent films . Gold rush is an example of an iconic silent film featuring the actor named Charlie Chaplin. ( On The Right )

Pretend that you are making your own silent movie . What would you need when you are making this movie . Tell us whether or not you would enjoy this silent movie .Why/Why Not ?
Me personally , I wouldn't be a fan of a silent movie because I want everyone to hear what is going on . I think I get what a silent movie is trying to do . Explaining it visually rather than just watching it and listening to it . It's good but I like to hear and see things that is going on . Reading is somewhat different to that . You see it and visualise what is happening in your head to give it a clear setting .

  1. Hi LJ,
Good piece of written in here. You did manage to express yourself very well and I totally understand your reasons.
However, you need to read carefully what the activity task is. In this activity you are asked to: "Watch the trailer for Gold Rush or The Lion's Cage. On your blog, tell us what you think the movie is about. There are no words spoken movie so you will need to pay careful attention to what the actors are doing! Do you think you would enjoy watching a silent film? Why/Why not?
In order for you to gain full points for this activity I need you to watch one of the movie trailers and write about it as per request and please let me know.
    Keep up the good work!
    Kia Kaha,
    Patricia
